LocalForge: code review that never leaves your machine

LocalForge is a private local reviewer designed to keep repository context, inference and disagreement on the computer where the code lives.

Code review is a strong case for local AI because the useful context is also the material teams are least willing to send elsewhere. LocalForge is designed around that constraint.

A local review path

  • The repository remains the source of truth.
  • Routine work and deeper review can use different local paths.
  • Conflicting interpretations remain visible for human judgment.
  • Cancellation and control stay with the user.

Current status

LocalForge is in private development. The architecture is being qualified as a product, so this note describes the intended boundary without claiming a public release or guaranteed result.

Note

The reporting rule we hold ourselves to

Every experiment report must preserve its question, controls, correctness checks, negative results, limitations and the decision that followed.

Note

A negative result worth publishing

A larger target missed the threshold written down before the run, so the release decision stayed negative even though parts of the result looked promising.
